A Nurse Honor Guard is a group of volunteer nurses who honor a fellow nurse through a brief, meaningful ceremony recognizing their life, compassion, and service.
We provide tributes at end-of-life (bedside), as well as at funerals, memorials, and graveside services.
The Nightingale Tribute is a ceremonial farewell that may include spoken words, the lighting of the Nightingale lamp, the placement of a white rose, and the final calling of the nurse’s name.
An end-of-life tribute—sometimes called a living tribute—is performed for a nurse who is nearing passing. When possible, the nurse may be present to receive this recognition.
Family members, friends, healthcare facilities, hospices, and funeral homes may request a tribute.
Please visit our Request a Service page and submit the required information so we can coordinate with you.
As early as possible. We will do our best to accommodate short notice, but advance notice helps ensure volunteer availability.
We typically need the nurse’s name, date, time, location, type of service, contact information, and any special requests.
No. All services are provided free of charge as a gift of honor.
Most tributes last approximately 3–5 minutes.
We serve Southwest Washington and surrounding areas.
We encourage you to contact a Nurse Honor Guard closer to your location. A Find a Nurse Honor Guard page will be available soon to help connect you with other groups.
